Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A6144 weight limit

A PROPOSAL to introduce a weight limit on the A6144 through the centre of tymm, except for access, will not be opposed by Greater Manchester County Council. The decision clears the way for Warrington Borough Council to start legal proceedings to impose the ban.

It was taken despite objections from councillors representing Sale, Ashton-onMersey and Altrincham areas, which could be subjected to the traffic diverted from Lymm.

If a weight limit order were made, it was suggested that Cheshire County Council in consultation with the Department of Transport should be asked to consider provision of suitable road signs in the Warrington area to guide drivers to Carrington along the M6 and M62.

Tenders please

TENDERS for, advance work on the Pencoed-Stormy Down seetion of the M4 motorway are being accepted.

The work involves constructing an embankment before the construction of the carriageway can begin. About 450,000 cubic metres of material will be excavated, some 57 per cent of it rock.

NEDC report

A REPORT prepared by the National Economic Development Council has suggested that UK mechanical handling lorry companies should consider partnerships with other European concerns.

The strengthened firms, the report says, would then be in a better position to meet the growing challenge of US and Japanese groups.

The council points out that the entire production base of the British companies is smaller than some individual US and Japanese firms. To compete on equal terms with such companies, the report adds, the industry needs to consider how larger scale operations can be created.
