Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TN a reminder to goods vehicle drivers that for the next 15 months they should use only the third lane of a three-lane motorway in an emergency, the Traders Road Transport Association has also stressed that lorry drivers, and indeed all road users, must not hog the centre lane if the third-lane ban experiment is to work.

Drivers travelling at medium speeds in the centre lane should remember that there are now many goods vehicles expressly designed for high-speed motorway operation and should be prepared to move into the slow lane to let these vehicles pass. Hogging of the centre lane could lead to the very bunching which the experimental thirdlane ban is intended to overcome.

The TRTA has already given its blessing to the ban on an experimental basis but, looking to the future, feels that it will be more realistic to have designated lane speeds, separating vehicles by capability rather than on an arbitrary type basis.

Investment Allowances: The RHA has approached the Board of Trade with a request that in the case of commercial vehicles ordered before January 17 this year (as distinct from being delivered) the old investment allowances should apply. The TRTA is to make a similar approach.

Heavy Transport orders Seammells: Heavy Transport Co. Ltd., St. Austell, has ordered 54 Scammell MB type automatic coupling semi-trailers from Scammell distributors Steels Commercials (Bristol) Ltd. The trailers are fitted with sided bodies and the new Supersafe Mk. LH undercarriage.
