1'HE Clyde Port Authority is considering
location of a cargo container terminal on a 33-acre site at Braehead. Renfrew, west of Glasgow. This terminal would be concerned with container reception, distribution, break up and disposal and would aim at the cargopotential of the American and Australian trades in particular.
Hauliers now serving the dock area are obviously concerned in any such project as they would be involved as collectors and distributors of the cargo containers over a wide area of Scotland. Hence the interest now being shown in cargo container operation here, at other Scottish ports and at the airports where container activity is growing.
Takeovers: Grounds Transport Services Ltd.. of Spalding. Lines, have taken over the haulage business of Larrow Transport (East Midlands) Ltd. at Boston and will operate from new premises in Marsh Lane as Grounds Transport (Boston) Ltd. Grounds have also taken over 46 vehicles formerly operated by Tower Hill Transport Ltd.. of Boston, a company which came into the hands of a receiver and was then split up into various companies, each operating in one licensing area.
