Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE number of battery-electric road vehicles registered has increased by more than 60 per cent in the past ten years. The number in 1965 was 51,847 (40,004 driver-seated and 11,843 pedestrian-controlled) compared with a total of 32.161 (21,690 and 10,471) in 1955. The number of driver-seated vehicles has almost doubled.

These figures are revealed in the annual report of the Electric Vehicle Association of Great Britain Ltd. The Association's technical committee has under consideration a suggested draft revision to B.S.1727 "Motors for Batteryoperated Vehicles" and will be considering in due course the possibility of Codes of Practice as applicable to battery-electric vehicles.
