MR. R. F. HANKS, vice-chairman of the Nuffield Organization, has been appointed an additional member of the Western Area Board of the British Transport Commission. He will succeed MR. JOHN RYAN, who will continue as the Commission's member on the board after the chairmanship of the Western Area Board has passed to Mr. Hanks on July 1.

MR. DAVID BLEE, traffic adviser of the British Transport Commission, has been nominated a member of the council of the Institute of Transport to take office on September 30.
