111-health resulted in the resignation of CouN. J. C. MARTIN, chairman of Lytham St. Annes Transport Commit. tee, from the town council, on Monday. In his recent enforced absence, COUN. J. W. HORSFALL has acted as transport committee chairman.

MAJOR R. 0. SQUAREY, MC., is the new transport adviser to Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd., succeeding Mr. Elliot Hoyle in this post. It was in .1929 that he became distribution and transport manager to Imperial Chemical Industries (Fertilizer and Synthetic Products), Ltd., at Billingham, and in 1934 was appointed deputy transport adviser to the I.C.I. concern.

To mark the occasion of his impending retirement from the position of general manager of Glasgow Corporation's transport department, Ma. LimnLAN MACKINNON was presented, last week, with gifts from the Scottish Road Passenger Transport Association.

COUN. THOMAS MITCHELL, who made the presentation, referred to Mr. Mackinnon's long connection with the transport industry, extending over 42 years. He had also been associated for many years with the S.R.P.T.A.

MR, H. A, PARSON has been appointed branch manager -at Birmingham for Pirelli, Ltd. The company has found that it needs more commodious accommodation, with efficient service facilities, in Birmingham, and its branch address in that city is now at 104, Digbeth. Mr. Parson has had a long association with the tyre industry and for many years has represented the Pirelli concern in various parts of the country. • • MR. B. H. HUNT, the company's manager for the Midlands and the North, will continue to act in a supervisory capacity.

We reproduce a photograph of COLONEL ARTHUR JERRETT, who, at the National Council meeting held last Wednesday, was elected President of the Commercial Motor Users Associa. tion for the year 1936-1937. Colonel Jerrett was born in Liverpool. In 1926 he became controller of transport! to Lewis's of Liverpool. Five years ago he became a member of the Liverpool Area Committee of the C.M.U.A., and, later, was appointed a delegate to the North-Western Division andthe National Council, afterwards becoming a member of the West Midland Divisional Committee.

He has represented the Retail Distributors Association as its transport expert for a number of years, and is a member of the recently formed Joint Industrial Council of Retail Distributors and London Employers' Association in conjunction with the Transport and General Workers Union. Colonel' Jerrett takes an active part in many other organizations, including the National Safety First Association.
