Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

During the past two years various owners of vehicles employed On services which make particularly heavy demands upon pneumatic tyres—such as fast and lengthy runs from town to town—have been trying an American tyre known as the India with marked success. Importations of this tyre actually commenced in April; 1926, and steadily increased in volume until the imposition of the 33f per cent, duty checked developmen1 in May, 1927.

Since that time the tyres have been brought into Great Britain in considerable numbers, but, of course, under a severe handicap, so that last December plans were matured for their manufacture in Scotland, and recently the India Tyre and Rubber Co. (Great Britain), Ltd. was floated with a capital of £150,000.

• This company has acquired the large and wen-built factory erected by the Government at Inchinnon (Renfrewshire) towards the end of the war and which, incidentally, was used for the building of that famous airship "1134." Here the most up-to-date tyre-making plant is being installed with a view to an initial output of 500 tyres per day. Eventually, one of the buildings alone will be able to produce 2,000 tyres per day.

India tyres have achieved a good reputation, such as would fully justify the increased price ; the cost of an India tyre is 10 per cent, higher, size for size, than that of the next dearest make. The company has acquired the exclusive rights of marketing these tyres in the l3eitish Empire (excluding Canada), and production will commence very shortly.

Goodyear's Headquarters Transferred.

The head office of the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. (Great Britain, 1927), Ltd., has now been transferred to the new factory premises of the company at Wolverhampton. Its office and warehouse at 15, Lots • Road, London, S.W.10, will continue to be operated as the London branch, and the coMpany's branches at Manchester, Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin will continue to function as heretofore. Arrangements are being made for establishing new distributing depots in various parts of the country.
