The Sentinel Waggon Works, Ltd., Shrewsbury, is making additional experiments in the carriage of coal in bulk between the coalfields and London. It is intended to emphasize the quickness and cheapness of carrying coal by this method. On March 15th a Super-Sentinel six-wheeled steam wagon was loaded at Graig Colliery, Aberdare, with approximately 14 tons of coal consigned by Messrs. Guerrett, Llewelyn and Merrett, Cardiff, to Plemastead Hospital. It is reported that delivery was made to consignees in 26 hours less than the average time by railway of 23 days.
A Glasgow Bus Acquisition.
We learn that the Glasgow General Omnibus Co. has just taken over the Glasgow-East Kilbride and Strathaven services which were operated by Ran kine's Motor Services. This acquisition is in pursuance of the company's policy of increased bus activity.
A Rouble-sided Daylight Sign.
We have recently received particulars concerning a new daylight sign which is stated to embody several unusual features. This fitting is known as the Sunset sign and is manufactured by the patentee, Hayes, Ltd., 342-344, Euston Road, London., N.W.1. Amongst its advantages is the fact that the sign is double-sided and thus allows variation to be made in the publicity wording. It is also totally enclosed, thus possessing advantages on the score
of cleanliness. The fitting, .which is stated to operate by artificial light as well as by daylight, should prove very suitable for use on all types of commercial vehicle.
Bean Vans on Laundry Work.
The Craigmillar Steam Laundry Co, of Edinburgh, has recently purchased four of the new Beau 30-cwt. chassis fitted with enclosed van bodies, bringing its fleet of this make up to nine vehicles.
