A NOTHEIt important matter in come nection with the satisfactory operation of fleets of vehicles is that of their periodical lubrication, and here, again, there has, in recent years, been a marked advance in the means provided for facilitating the work.
In this section a prominent position is taken by Tecalemit, Ltd., 10, Little Portland Street, London, W.1, which, for cases where large numbers of vehicles have to be serviced, supplies the Tecalemit portable tank, the delivery hose of which is provided with a series of nose pieces enabling these to be rapidly connected to the different nipples of a vehicle or for filling gearboxes and back axles.
The tank holds nearly 1 cwt. of lubricant and is conveniently operated by a rotating handle, it being capable of
exertag a pressure of 5,000 lb. per square inch. A small portable device, a horizontal cylinder of a capacity of • 17 lb. of lubricant is also made, whilst a relatively sew pattern is of the knapsack type, having a capacity of 11 lb., by means of which a workman, with the apparatus strapped to his back, can quickly give a fresh charge of lubricant
D40 to all the vital points of a vehicle. The concern has also produced the Airline Lubrigun, a portable plant of 23 lb. capacity.
Another useful device for the lubrication department of the garage is the Weaver valveless bucket pump, handled by Brown Bros., Ltd. This is a portable and hand-operated multiple-purpose implement, by means of which used oil or grease may be drawn from gearboxes and back axles, the same parts being subsequently washed out with jiaralfin and afterwards replenished Fith ,fresh lubricant. A handy portable gearoil bucket, known as the Bennett, is also marketed by Equipments, Ltd.
