signed a deal worth more than £8.6m with Ford for 400 commercial vehicles. Some 20 Ranger pick-up trucks and 379 Transit vans will enter service with the company, operating at 283 sites across the UK.
Speedy has also ordered a Transit Custom to evaluate the vehicle ahead of a potential order.
Speedy logistics director Richard Martin said: "Our fleet is an extension of our company brand, so it is important that we choose the right vehicles to meet our customers' needs and requirements. Speedy operates through a large network of depots covering the whole of the UK and these Ford vehicles will be vital to transport assets and equipment."
In keeping with its fleet policy, each of the new vehicles will be fitted with telematics tracking to monitor usage and fuel efficiency. The Transit vans have been ordered in Base series specification, with the Eco Pack (which includes a stop/start system) and Bluetooth.
Ford UK regional fleet manager Karen Nixon said: "Ford's ongoing investment in low-0O2 technology is helping companies like Speedy in their quest for lower whole-life vehicle costs."
