the XL's extra height above the windscreen enhances this with the addition of an overhead storage shelf. Other storage solutions are acceptable but not plentiful, with small door pockets and a mediumsized glovebox.
The lack of storage space in many city vans is perhaps what led Fiat to develop its laughable passenger seat with under-cushion storage.
The idea sounds good but the space is so limited that it is good for nothing except maybe pens or coins: anything larger is at risk of being damaged or preventing the seat cushion sitting flush with the seat.
It's not all bad though. The instrument dials are clear and well presented, and the ergonomically shaped steering wheel with radio controls is the best in the sector.
The flimsy feel of the control stalks behind the wheel blot the copybook of what is otherwise a very well-built interior.
