AST Friday saw the opening at Dig beth by the Birmingham and .Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., of what is claimed to be -Britain's most modern coach terminal. Equipped with booking hall, waiting room, a shop and restaurant facilities, it occupies the ground floor of a new four-storey building which forms a fine frontage to the large bus garage and coach station established there nearly 30 years ago.

It has been named Spencer House as a recognition of the work performed for the company and the road passenger transport industry by Mr. John Spencer Wills, Midland " Red" chairman during the past 12 years.

The building fronts the DigbethDeritend double-track highway, and the lower, operational, part has been completed in time to improve passenger facilities for the peak holiday traffic. Some of the upper accommodation has been scheduled as offices for Midland "

Red" staff, but the greater part has been taken by Telephone Rentals, Ltd.

The area of the ground floor is about 8,300 sq. ft. and includes a left-luggage and lost-property office. The restaurant is of the self-service, type accommodating some 100 people. Spencer House is of steel-frame construction with brick facings and pre-stressed concrete floors and roof, and there are five entrances, two leading directly to the station.

BID TO END SERVICE

AN application by Hebble Motor Services, Ltd., to discontinue their Wilsden-Cullingworth and Clayton circular services from October 1 has been submitted to the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners.

This follows British Railways' decision to stop subsidizing the Services,' which cater for many people who originally used an uneconomic branch line. The application will be opposed by Bingley Rural District Council.
