Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The light van which we illustrate on his page is the toh.p, model made by he Adams Manufacturing Co., Ltd., of Redford. This van has recently been 'riven by one of the company's repre;entatives throughout England and Wales, a very large portion of the run-ling being around the Peak district. some of the tests to which the engine vas subjected in this neighbourhood vere of a most severe character. On ;everal occasions the van, with a load )f sixteen hundredweight, was driven rp the most severe climb in Newport, %,lonrnouth ; this has at parts a graPent of in 5, and it demonstrated its -eliability by frequently 'stopping and .c-starting on it. On one occasion, with I load of 12 cwt., the van climbed a )art of Plymouth known as the North :orner, stopping several times, en -oute, to deliver goods. It is well mown, locally, that tradesmen always woid sending loads up this lull. An ntere.sting return of a severe test at Wolverhampton is given below.

Only on three occasions was the low ;peed used, and one of these was on a till near the station, which was subsepiently taken on top gear with a oad up. The petrol consumption of

the van throughout its long run has averaged 18 miles to the gallon, loaded, and 22 miles to the gallon, unloaded. The total mileage since August last, under the guidance of one particular

representative, has been 5,480 miles, and previous to this it had run several thousand miles without any mechanical trouble whatsoever.

On overhauling the engine, no de

posit due to over lubrication was found on the cylinders or pistons, and this speaks well for the system of automatic lubrication and carburation employed by the company. The Adams Mann facturing Company advises us that this light van is quite capable of doing, and has frequently done, 150 miles per day, with no other attention than an occasional fresh supply of petrol.
