• Three senior executives of former NFC subsidiary Fleetcare have been cleared of being involved in a plot which caused British Rail "an enormous financial loss."
Director of finance Philip Ward, former managing director David Smith, and purchasing director Colin Smith were all formally discharged by Judge Kenneth Cooke at London's Southwark Crown Court. Still in the dock, denying similar charges, are: Brian Soanes, operations manager, of Baromey, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough; and regional directors, John Flay, of Hobiton road, Shire Park, Worle, Weston-super-Mare; Donald Williams, of Wellydale Road, Wylde Green, Sutton Coldfields: and Barry Munt, of Columba Drive, Leighton Buzzard, Beds. The trial continues.
