The DTp defends its record on road traffic forecasting, slammed by the Commons' Public Accounts Committee last week (CM 20-26 July). Many of the PAC's criticism relate to "old forecasts," which have been overtaken by improvements in research techniques, it says. Given The difficulties of forecasting so many years ahead, most of the recent forecasts have been "reasonably accurate", it claims.
