BRAINTREE BYPASS • The A 12u Braintree and Rayne bypass is now open. It forms part of the planned eastwest route from the M40 to Felixstowe and Harwich, and improves access to Stanstead Airport from East Anglia.

STARTING SOON • The main contract for the M3 extension of the M27 is due to be announced soon: the route is scheduled for opening in 1991.
BARNSTAPLE BYPASS • Work oil the 75kin link between North Devon and the M5 is progressing with the opening of the South Molton section and the Barnstaple Bypass.
MISSING LINK
• Wrork has now started on the final 20km section of the M40 between Waterstock and Wendlebury.
