• Hillsdown Holdings plans to sell Cartwright Brice Holdings, which includes a major stationery and office products contract distribution business.
Kleinwort Benson, which is advising on the sale, says there are no plans to split up Cartwright, despite its unrelated interests.
Applied moves
• Applied Distribution, which was formed after the management buyout of Geest's contract distribution wing, is closing its North Anston depot in Yorkshire and opening a base in Sheffield. The new depot will handle the distribution of fresh produce to more than 100 Gateway stores in the Midlands and the North. The company has earmarked several other sites as potential depots.
Personnel moves
• Scantruck is appointing former managing director of Kelly Trucks, Geoffrey Carson, as managing director for the Colnbrook, Bucks area.
Managing director Vernon Broom will concentrate on developing Sc,antruck's Eastern region and Kent.
Roger McCarthy has become managing director of Southway Commercials and will remain a director of Scantruck.
