A £3.3M SCHEME has been proposed for rebuilding and expanding the St Margaret's bus station in Leicester to cater for all non-urban services.
The present bus station is described in an official report on July 14 as "deplorable, an eyesore and a disgrace to Leicester".
The new station would cater for all country and longdistance services, replacing the often-criticised spattering of bus and coach stations throughout the city.
City Engineer Derek Sharpe says in his report that the bays at St Margaret's are too small for modern buses and make drivers' work more difficult, while passenger amenities are "very poor".
