METRO-CAMMELL Weymann is thinking of converting its Metrobus providing the basis for a trolley or dualmode bus for the future.

MCW is undertaking a feasibility study for producing trolley-type vehicles for the British and overseas market.

Transport Minister Kenneth Clarke said in the Commons last week that the Transport and Road Research Laboratory is looking at the possibilities of developing electric vehicles further. He noted, however, that the Laboratory had recently reported that a battery trolleybus system would use more primary energy than a diesel bus, cost more in the first place and offer no saving in running costs.
