• A deficit of £52,000 in the current year was forecast for the Grimsby and Cleethorpes joint transport undertaking last week. The body's treasurer said that figures for the first quarter of this year showed a deficit of f 16,000.
The position is understood to have risen from the increasing use of outside garages for maintaining buses. This is because of a shortage of skilled mechanics in the area.
