Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Bus priority measures to enable the implementation of London Transport's 10 Speedbus routes will cost about .42+m. This is revealed in an article in •the current edition of LT News. In an interview, Mr E. R. Ellen, LT's director of transport planning, said that income from fares should rise by about 42m per year.

Plans for the Speedbus network, which entails long-distance, limited-stop bus services operating on reserved sections of road, were approved by the Greater London Council on Tuesday. The system, which involves routes crossing the heart of London and linking areas with poor rail services, will have bus stops at about half-mile intervals.

During the interview, Mr Ellen advocated the establishment of a squad of mobile traffic wardens who could ensure that bus lanes were kept clear of other traffic.

At present two LT men are studying the 200 miles of projected Speedbus routes to report on the traffic priorities needed for the services. LT hopes to have all services operating by mid-1975, with the first beginning in October next year.
