THE 66 sites mentioned by Mr Peyton are as follows:— NORTH WEST REGION: Stretford (Barton Dock Road), site being acquired by DoE, and expected to be available for advertisement to developers this month; Bootle (Langston Dock): site being acquired by DoE, expected to be available soon after Stretford; Warrington New Town (Grange Employment Area), talks with New Town Corporation on form of lease now in progress — site will not be available for sale to developers; Kirby (Knowsley Industrial Estate) and Spoke Airport (Speke Stacking Grounds), awaiting proposals from Liverpool Corporation; Arifield (Walton Triangle), alternative site being sought; Bradbury/Denton, new site being sought; Stockport (A626 re-alignment), site suitable as local lorry park only, and reference to site to be deleted: Rochdale (Queensway), awaiting proposals from Corporation; Central Lancs New Town, awaiting details of site and information about possible traffic flows, consequent upon Development Corporation's proposals to develop the area.
EASTERN REGION: Colchester/Harwich, need for site in this area now re-assessed; Grays /Thurrock (Eldonwal) l. possible private development; South Mirnms (Al /A6 /Ringway 3), site under investigation; Watford (Beirygrove), site under investigation — UDC objection: Milton Keynes, awaiting proposals by New Town Development Corporation — likely to be "second phaseproject; Oxford, awaiting decision on road network in the area; Toddington, possible site under investigation; Peterborough, brickworks site still under investigation; King's Lynn/Norwich, need for site assessed; Ipswich, need for site being reviewed in light of developments at Felixstowe; Felixstowe, private clevelopement by Associated Hotels and F. J. Construction Ltd — construction almost completed; Slough (Spout Lane), site rejected because of aircraft noise, alternative being sought.
SOUTH EASTERN REGION: Southampton (Nursling), development by Hampshire CC in association with NCP; Dover/Folkestone, need for site in this area being re-assessed; Reading, depends on provision of site at Slough; Egham/Chertsey, possible sites still under investigation.
YORKSHIRE AND HUMBERSIDE REGION: Bradford (M60 6 /Furness Road), private development by Euroway; Hull (King George Dock), private development by Vanguard Interstop Parking Ltd; Pontefract (Ferrybridgel and Wakefield (Redbeck Café-Motel, Doncaster Road, Croft), possible extention of existing motels; Leeds (Stourton /Rothwell), site being investigated, negotiations with BRB taking place re Stourton: Sheffield tMosbroughl, site being investigated, details available shortly: Goole, site being investigated by PSA Surveyors on R DC recommendation; Doncaster (Town Centre), awaiting proposals from Corporation on possible
expansion of existing local lorry park.
NORTHERN REGION: Carlisle (Kingstown), development by Carlisle Corpora. ton and Vanguard Interstop Parking Ltd; .Scotch Corner (Leeming /Londonderry), possible private development of existing facilities, planning permission granted: Darlington (Faverclale), site under investigation, details available shortly.
EAST MIDLANDS REGION: Notting-, ham (Beeston Sidings), original site not available, alternative being sought; Leicester (Cottage Farm, Narborough), part of site liable to flooding, alternative being considered; Blyth (Blue Star Garage), dependent on provision of site at Newark; Derbyshire (A615 Borristow Lane), possible private development by Transport Inns Ltd; Derbyshire (Trovvell Service Area), possible private development by Mecca Ltd; Northamptonshire, siting of lorry park still under investigation at low priority.
WEST MIDLANDS REGION: Walsall (Bentley Junction M6 /A454), site not suitable because of land and drainage problem, alternative being sought; Wadey, use of sports ground-opposed by council, alternative being sought; Castle Bromwich 1M6 iA4 56), site under investigation; Bedworth (Moat House), site under investigation — objection from planning authority: Penkridge (Sunset Cafe, possible development of existing transpoit café; Newcastle-under-Lyme (Parkhouse Colliery), site under investigation after favourable report from PSA surveyor.
