Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

to see a driver's hgv licence and, if so, how long has the driver to produce it if he is not carrying it?

A Regulation 14(1) of the Heavy Goods Vehicles (Driver's Licences) Regulations 1969 deals with the production of

licences. It states, briefly, that the driver of a heavy goods vehicle on a road or a person who accompanies the holder of a provisional licence while the holder is driving a heavy goods vehicle on a road shall produce his hgv licence for examination at the request of a police constable or an examiner appointed under Section 153 of the Road Traffic Act 1960 (now Section 56 of the Road Traffic Act 1972).

Sub-section (5) of that Regulation states that if any person is unable to produce his hgv driver's licence, when required to do so, it shall be sufficient compliance with the Regulations if it is produced within five days of when it was required by a police constable at such police station as might have been specified at the time its production was required.

If it was required to be produced by an examiner, it must be produced within 10 days at the office of such vehicle examiner or such Licensing Authority as the vehicle examiner might have stipulated.
