"Once you allow touting," he said last week, "you are allowing the thin edge of the wedge, and the next stage might be that rival operators would resort to more active measures to take clients to their coaches."

I.R.T.E. VISITS RAEMBERS of the Institute of Road IVI Transport Engineers are to visit I.C.I. (Paints Division), Slough, on August 16, and Vauxhall Motors, Ltd., Luton, on August 28. The annual general meeting will be held on October 3, at Central Hall, London, S.W.1, at 6.30 p.m.

RISE IN REGISTRATIONS

AT 13,204, the total of new-vehicle registrations for May, excluding cars and motorcycles, showed an increase of 801 over the figure for April. The biggest single increase was in "other goods," which rose from 6,690 to 7,372. The complete figures are given in the table below.
