MR. G. C. R. MaTmEsote, B.Sc., has been appointed senior lecturer at the School of Gas Turbine Technology.
MR. F. ASHWORTH, acting traffic superintendent of Oldham Transport Department, MR. S. HATHAWAY, traffic superintendent. Rochdale, MR. F. Nictiotsote, chief traffic assistant, Darlington, and MR. A. TAYLOR, traffic superintendent, Warrington, have been short-listed for the post of Oldham traffic superintendent.
MR. J. W. Wicx.s, formerly assistant engineer (development — buses and coaches) of London Transport, has been appointed works manager (buses and coaches). MR. I. Saturnia, M.C., works engineer (Charlton), has become works manager (trams and trolleybuses). MR. N. H. CHARLES has taken up the appointment of planning and methods engineer (road services works). He was formerly planning and methods engineer (buses and coaches). MR. L. F. HOENISS, A.M.I.P.E., has been appointed chief inspector (road services). Mit. C. E. AYRES, 0.B.E, operating superintendent of country buses and coaches, retired last Saturday and the post has been abolished. In consequence, MR H. F. C. ADCOCK, divisional superintendent (north) has become divisional superintendent (south), MR. G. FERNYHOUGH has become divisional superintendent (north) and MR.. R. PO-STUMM has taken up the position of principal executive assistant (headquarters). SIR CLIVE BAILLIEU, chairman of the Dunlop Rubber. Co., Ltd., has been elected chairman of the English Speaking Union, in succession to Lord Waketturst.
MR. C. BROWN has been appointed to represent the North British Rubber Co., Ltd., in Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, and MR. I. HARWOOD East London and Essex.
SIR ALAN RAE SMITH, KBE., F.C.A., and SIR HAROLD BARTON, F.C.A., have been reappointed auditors to the British Transport Commission for the year ending December 31 next.
MR. R. A. FEARNLEY, general manager of Coventry Transport Department, has been appointed chairman of the motor omnibuses committee of the Municipal Passenger Transport Association.
MR. E. F. PERRY, formerly research and development engineer of Tilling Stevens, Ltd., Maidstone, is leaving England to take up an appointment with the Canadian Car and Foundry Co., Montreal.
MR, G. E. BEHARRELL, president of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, last week presented a silver salver to MR. W, LYONS, his predecessor in office. Mr. Beharrell also gave a cocktail party in honour of the visit to this country of MR. HENRY FORD II.
