Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Dieter Merz, the popular managing director of Scania GB, is leaving the UK in the summer to take over as managing director of Scania France.

During his three years in the UK, 48-year old Mertz estab lished a dedicated fleet sales department which last year won what was claimed to be the largest order for heavy trucks when some 480 tractor units were orded by Tesco.

The deal was worth around 225m.

Merz also increased Scania's market share from 11% in 1991 to 14% last year in the 17-tonne-plus sector.

Taking over from Merz is ult Bundell, 49, who was managing director of Scania Bilar, Scania's largest distributorship based in Stockholm, Sweden.

• Budgens is to recruit more drivers for its Wellingborough distribution centre to improve service to its 95 stores.

Distribution director John Harvey says he aims to cut the time between orders and delivery to less than 24 hours within three months.

The company currently employs 75 drivers directly but more would probably be needed to meet the target.

Most of its 120 trailers are

now temperature controlled with the company concentrating more on fresh goods

rather than ambient grocery.

Company stores have now switched to accepting three daily deliveries.
