NOTICE of strike action has been served by more than 600 drivers in Coventry.
They claim their employers want them to accept a worsening of conditions.
The men, who recently negotiated a 15 per cent pay increase, want their holiday pay to be based on a 55-hour average week, or 50 hours plus £10, whichever is the greater.
According to John Jayson, Transport and General Workers Union Coventry district organiser, the employers were prepared to agree to the claim but the Road Haulage Association said it would be breaching the Government's pay guidelines.
The *men have also been told they must accept the West Midlands holiday agreement.
The WM agreement is based on 50 hours basic pay for four weeks holidays after three years service.
The Coventry men have four weeks holiday after one year based on 50 hours basic pay.
