PROPOSED regulations and programme for the second British Coach Rally, which is to be held at Brighton on April 21 and 22, have now been published.

There will be four classes for entries: vehicles with up to 35 seats; 36-41 seats; 41 seats and over; and special touring coaches.

A road test, with the starting control at Esher, and driving tests at Goodwood and Brighton, will occupy the first day. On the Sunday, there will be a concours d'elegance in the morning and a procession of the competing vehicles in the afternoon.

Copies of the regulations can be obtained from Passenger Transport, Avenue Chambers, Vernon Place, London, W.C.I.

The first entry for the rally was received by the organizers on Monday. It came from Carnpings Luxury Coaches, Brighton, who will compete with an A.E.C. Regal Mark IV with a Gurney Nutting body.

"AUTOMATION NEEDS SKILLED MEN "—MR. FULTON lkAUCI-I had been heard about auto LVI in industry, but it demanded skilled people to run the system, Mr. H. W. Fulton, managing director of Albion Motors, Ltd., said at Leyland, last week, when he presented awards to more than 50 „apprentices of Leyland Motors, Ltd.

He looked forward to the time when there might be an interchange of apprentices between factories in the Leyland group.

Mr. H. Glassbrook, Leyland apprentices' superintendent, said that to cater more fully for apprentices, £35,000 had been spent on equipment for his department. Where, previously, it comprised a foundry and machine and fitting shops, it now had a section for sheetmetal work.

Sir Henry Spurrier, managing director, presented certificates to six employees who had each completed 25 years' service, and made awards of £200, £1.00 and £50 for the best suggestions of the year.
