• Yorkshire hauliers hoping to gain from British Steel's decision to switch 9,000 tonnes of limestone a week from rail to road have been disappointed by a six-month postponement of the move (CM 6-12 Feb).
British Steel has agreed to the delay after meeting William Hague, Conservative MP for Richmond, Yorks.
It had planned to end its use of the line carrying limestone from Redmire Quarry to its iron foundry at Redcar, but the move has been put back till September while consultation takes place.
