Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Bradfordbased haulier Paul Clayton and four of his drivers were ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £1,625 after admitting drivers' hours and tachograph offences.

On some jobs drivers had driven for 15 hours a day, Bradford magistrates heard.

Raymond Bedford, of Wyke, Bradford, was fined £50 for one offence of exceeding 4i hours driving without taking the re quired break, Peter Robinson, also of Bradford, was fined £150 for three offences of failing to keep tachograph records. Paul Wrigley, of Huddersfield, was fined 2.100 for one offence of exceeding 10 hours driving in a day and one 41-hour driving offence. Brian Baldwin, of Mingworth, Bradford, was fined £400 for two offences of taking insufficient daily rest, three of exceeding the daily driving limit and three 4i-hour driving offences.

Clayton, trading as PM Clayton of Wyke Lane, Bradford, admitted permitting Baldwin's offences and was fined £800.

All five men were ordered to pay £25 costs. Senior traffic examiner Bryan Walscher said that the offences had come to light following a routine check of the firm's tachograph charts.
