• Wincanton Vehicle Management has taken over the running of Stoke-on-Trent-based contract hire firm, Intertrail, which has a 186-strong fleet.
French owner SocGen Lease is closing Intertrail's one depot, at Fenton, this week. Its 24 staff were made redundant last month after contracts were transferred to WVM's site in Camberley, Surrey.
SocGen had considered selling the seven-year-old business to a vehicle manufacturer or importer after French truck rental giant Le Camion withdrew its financial backing last December.
Intertrail managing director John Goodreid would not comment on his plans when he leaves the company in March after four years' service, during which time he has won business from a number of blue chip firms including Geest and the London Rubber Company.
