• A long-term business plan aimed at further separating Parcelforce from the Royal Mail is about to be launched.
The Parcelforce board has already split wage negotiations from Royal Mail's letters and is investing in depots and vehicles to further split operations. Now it is in the process of giving approval for the plan.
Last year independent business consultant McKinsey produced a critique of how the business performs and suggestions for improving it, and some of these have been taken up.
Parcelforce's Customers' Charter, published last week, says that the company will publish its results annually on collection and delivery for general public services.
Parcelforce has appointed Michael Healy as its commercial director. Healy, who comes from Federal Express, will be based at Milton Keynes.
