THE WOOD Inquiry has called upon an independent consultant to find out the effects of a lorry ban or a weight limit on nine specific companies.
Mike Hall of Newcastle University will study the transport operations of the companies, whose names have not been disclosed, and give his findings to the chairman at a later date.
Another study into the effects of a ban has been carried out on 38 London firms by Leeds University Institute of Transport Studies, headed by Professor May.
Both reports will be published, but confidential information will be omitted.
