Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Bluehne Intercity Express has bought seven triaxle double decker Gardner-powered Neoplan coaches, worth 21.25 million, as part of its latest fleet replacement programme.

The 246kW (330hp) Skyliners — the first Neoplans for Blueline — are fitted with ZF automatic gearboxes and will be used on intercity express runs, with each vehicle covering over 6,0001on per week.

• The first new buses to be delivered to Merseyside Transport are ten Northern Counties-bodied Dodge S56 Minibuses. The coachbuilt, welded steel frame bodies are fitted with 22 moquette-trimmed seats and can carry a further nine passengers standing.

• Pressure group Capital Transport has accused London Reg-tonal Transport of sabotaging the government's campaign against drinking and driving, claiming that most of London will be without buses and tube services during the Christmas holiday period.

Terry Allan, secretary of the London Bus section of the Transport and General Workers Union, has written a letter to transport minister John Moore in which he says, "The campaign against drinking and driving may well be viewed as an exercise in hypocrisy if you do not intervene and insist that the car driver is afforded an alternative means of transport."
