• TAD, the regenerative braking currently being developed by Scania for use on its buses, is providing benefits in noise reduction and exhaust emissions, as well as reducing fuel consumption by a third, according to the Swedish company.
Scania plans to introduce the electronically-controlled system on US-built buses 'as soon as practical', but in the meantime the system will continue to be tested in Sweden on a variety of passenger service vehicles.
