Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AS a student in the immediate post-war years studying for the RSA examinations, I found great difficulty in obtaining an allembracing textbqok which would assist me through those subjects which I had to study but which were not essential in my daily transport duties. British Transport, published this week by Pelican Books, is an economic survey from the 17th to the 20th century by H. J. Dyos and P. H. Aldcroft, which would have been essential reading for me had it been available in the late Forties.

Its 13 chapters are packed with useful information written in a way which dispenses with needless padding and does not overdo any particular aspect. The book, which was first published in 1969 by Leicester University Press, is now published in Pelican Books, costs £1 and is available through Penguin Books Ltd, Harmandsworth, Middlesex.
