Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

use of 1.p.g. (propane) as a motor vehicle fueL Could you give me the name of a supplier of equipment and your views regarding the advantages and disadvantages of employing a vehicle powered by an engine converted to run on Lp.g?

AWhile the operation of a road vehicle

powered by an engine running on I. pg. is legal at the moment, the oil companies will not supply gas for fuelling a road vehicle. The gas is not taxed but the Inland Revenue has stated that a countervailing tax would be introduced if the gas were used on a large scale.

Conversion equipment is produced by LP Carburetter Co. Ltd., Woburn Green, Bucks Running a vehicle on untaxed fuel would probably be cheaper than operation on petrol or diesel fuel, so long as the gas were untaxed. Propane is an excellent fuel with regard to "engine cleanliness", which is shown by reports of industrial-truck operators who state that its use eliminates contamination of the lubricating oil and prolongs the life of the unit indefinitely.

It also enables a converted petrol engine to run on a higher compression ratio to give an improved performance.
