The new dual-purpose ERF fire tender which was exhibited for the first time at the Chief Fire Officers' Conference at Torquay is now doing the rounds on demonstration. In this case a 50 ft. Simon Snorkel hydraulic platform has been mounted on an ERF fire engine chassis. Power is supplied by a Perkins V8-510 diesel engine with an output of 170 bhp. A layshaft power takeoff drives the HCB fire pump, while the hydraulic pump is operated from the ERF p.t.o. The maker's own part-cab is used with main bodywork by HCB-Angus.
