Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BRS vehicles are so familiar a sight that 596 of them could pass without the man in the street even taking notice of their presence. But every time there is a sale of "miscellaneous goods" on behalf of BRS hundreds of laymen engage in animated discussion on the matter. Earlier this month Chesters-Thorripsons, the Manchester auctioneers, put on a two-day sale of 596 lots which included an extraordinary variety of goods, ranging for instance from a "parcel of books marked 'Marie' " to 561b of pigeon corn, to say nothing of gallon bottles of strawberry shampoo. All of this stimulated the usual speculations.
