• A suggestion that the state-owned Transport Holding Company (soon to become part of the NFC) might now be interested in making a bid for the haulage businesses which formed part of the Davis Bros. group was made in the Metropolitan traffic court on Friday.
Mr. M. Davies QC, for Larrow Transport (Northern) Ltd., said that in the light of a file produced as evidence by Mr. Richard Yorke (appearing for THC as objector; to the Larrow application) it was clear, that in 1965 the THC had attempted to purchase the whole of the Davis group of companies but had failed because of a price disagreement.
Continued Mr. Davies: "The THC may now take the opportunity of acquiring all the business of the group without paying substantial sums for the privilege."
Asked this week about the THC's past and present interest in the Davis companies, a spokesman said: "The THC have noted this remark and have no comment to make." (A report of the Larrow application, resumed last week, appears on page 17.)
