Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Commercial Motor Users Association has had under consideration the inquiry addressed by the Association of British Chambers of Commerce to its constituent Chambers with reference to " co-ordination of transport." The C.M.U.A. strongly opposes the suggestion that further restriction of the use of goods vehicles, or the setting up of a National Board, is either desirable or necessary, and members will make representations to Chambers of Commerce that the matter should receive serious consideration.

The C.M.U.A. urges that any further restriction must inevitably tend towards the establishment of a railway monopoly, and that this is neither in the interests of trade and industry generally, nor in those of the. State. The flexibility of road transport and its adaptability to meet widely varying needs, impossible to other available means, should not be further hampered; rather the State should give every assistance to ensure that these services shall be allowed to function in the best interests of the community. It is confidently anticipated that those trades and industries which benefit so considerably by the operation of road transport will, unhesitatingly, declare their rights to a free choice, and that the Chambers will accordingly reject proposals to deprive them of' this.
