Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The shipment of commercial motor vehicles abroadis a proceeding often beset with certain difficulties. We believe that most manufacturers 'usually find it convenient to box the, chassis or complete vehicles, as the case may be, but this method, apart from involving extra cost, results in considerable labour charges and loss of time in packing and unpacking. The practice which the Associated Daimler Co., Ltd., employs in connection with the buses which it ships overseas is to drive the vehicles to the docks under their OIVIi power, where rope slings, so arranged that the weight of the bus is taken equally by the four wheels, are placed underneath. At each end of the slings, two of which are employed, sacks of sawdust are used so as to keep the derrick ropes clear of the sides of the

bus. The usual. type of spreader is then fixed. The illustrations which we reproduce on this page show a consignment of Model 416 buses being unloaded at Callao for delivery to Lima, Peru, where they are to be put into service, and indicate the method of slinging employed and the way in which the vehicles are protected from damage.

" Still Going Strong."

John Walker and Sons, Ltd., the well-known whisky distiller, has lately put a motor lorry of the 1900 period into service to show that, like its own product, it is "still going strong."

Appealing to the Ministry.

Messrs. Halstead Bros. have lodged an appeal with the Ministry of Transport against the refusal of the Wakefield Watch Committee to grant them licences to ply for hire between the city and Barnsley.
