• Independent remould tyre manufacturer Bandvulc has secured a contract worth about 4:500,000 a year to supply tyres to United Carriers.
A range of tyres will be used by the United Carriers fleet and the vehicles operated by Carpet Express and Mansped. The total fleets comprise some 800 rigid vans, 400 tractor units and 1,550 trailers.
Richard O'Connell, sales director at Bandvulc, says: "We are delighted to have this opportunity of working with United Carriers. They are the latest in a number of well-known retailers and distributors to specify the Bandvulc quality service exclusively, confirming our position as a major independent manufacturer."
Ralph Atkinson, United Carriers' technical services director, adds: "We look forward to developing a cost-effec tive and efficient long-term tyre policy with the help of Bandvulc."
