The dispute was in protest at changes in working contracts as a result of competitive route tendering. A nine-hour meeting with ACAS failed to avert the strike, which arose after union leaders rejected a pay and conditions offer from London Bus, successful tenderer for five Norbiton routes on the basis that costs would be cut.
