• Little more than a month after National Freight Consortium relaunched its troubled parcels division (CM 2-8 July), newly-named Lynx Express has already won more than 25 million worth of new business, including a 21.5 million contract with holiday brochure company The 35 Group.
Lynx Express managing director Graham Roberts says that customer response to the relaunched parcels company, which replaces National Carriers-Roadline, has been "tremendously encouraging".
Roberts reports that the company is "quite chuffed since the relaunch. It has been well received, not only by potential customers, but also by our staff. The results of the relaunch endorse the original decision to change."
Lynx has also won a '10 AM' delivery contract with Bounty Services and clinched a deal worth over 2500,000 to carry goods for Abru Ladders, According to Roberts, Lynx Express represents "the most significant relaunch of a transport company for a long time".
By the end of Lynx's current financial year in September the company will have spent over 25 million on new vehicles for its delivery fleet and on computers and general restructuring. As a result of this the company is unlikely to break even this year, but Roberts is optimistic that the fresh business and the general reaction of Lynx will help the NFC subsidiary return to the black in 1988.
