Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A special insulated version of Neville Truck Equipment's Uni-dump tipping semi-trailer has been developed for use by civil engineering contractors. It is designed to discharge tarmacadam or asphalt into road-surfacing machines of the BarberGreene and Maw Knox types, where a high rear lip and long reach behind the rear wheels of the trailer are needed.

With the single-axle Uni-dump trailer the rear end of the body is extended by 211 2in. behind the tailboard to form an extension chute. The body panels are extended to form side plates to guide the material into the surfacing machine. Reach extends to 3ft 7in. behind the tyres while the edge remains 211 2in. clear of the ground, allowing sufficient clearance below it for the intake hopper of a road surfacing machine.

Overall length of the 15 cu yd trailer is increased by 19in. to 21ft 9in. as a result of the modifications. The Uni-dump is plated at 19.75 tons gross trailer weight for use at 24 tons gvw.
