fares for old-age pensioners has been rejected. The scheme was approved at the Council's July meeting by an overwhelming majority. but legal difficulties have since arisen.
To make the scheme operate it would he necessary to nay Eastern National Bus Co. Ltd. a sum of money to offset the pensioners' concession from the general rale fund. The Minister of Transport has ruled that this would be illegal. The scheme would have cost the rate fund some £25,(X)0 in a full year.
Plan to Meet Rail Closures: Plans are being made by W. Alexander and Sons (Fife) Ltd. to advance the timing of their Leven-Tayport services by five minutes to meet the possible closure of the railway link between these points around the East Neuk of Fife. An application will he heard shoalsasking approval for this move.
