I N a bid to boost exports of heavy-duty commercial vehicles to South Africa, Rhodesia and Portugal, Mr. Peter M. Yates will leave London on August 30 on his first overseas tour since becoming managing director of Atkinson Vehicles Ltd. at the beginning of the year. He will be joined in Johannesburg by Atkinson chairman, Mr. W. G. Allen.
In all three countries Mr. Yates will discuss with the local Atkinson agents the inclusion of a higher proportion of local content in vehicles shipped from England and assembled in local plants.
Mr. Yates stressed this week that there had been no falling off in orders from the home market.
