Improve ment Association and a life-time campaigner for better highways, Mr. William Rees Jeffreys died last week at the age of 82.
In 1903 he was appointed administrative secretary of the Royal Automobile Club and organized the Motor Union of Great Britain and Ireland. He was a member of the permanent international commission of the International Association of Road Congresses_ In 1910 he was made secretary of the Road Board, which post he retained until the Ministry of Transport took over the Board in 1919.
He was largely concerned with the founding of the Commercial Motor Users' Association and the Institution of Automobile Engineers. He had been associated with the R.I.A. for the past 53 years. He was honorary secretary in 1901.
