ONG-DISTANCE haulage from Bradford has been resumed by Mr. Ufred H. Crow and Mr. Arthur Crow, irectors of Crow Bros. (Transport ervices), Ltd., 16 Greenside, Clayton, ;radford. Before nationalization they /ere associated with their father, Mr. leorge Crow, now retired from usiness, in George Crow and Sons, td., who operated about 20 vehicles thich were taken over by British Road ervices.
Crow Bros., whose purchase of three lore vehicles from B.R.S. was reported st week, are operating 10 ex-B.R.S. irries. Most of these were acquired ,r H. Burnell and Son, Ltd., whose asiness was purchased by Crow Bros. Id is now carried on under the latter one.
Since the original Crow haulage fleet is nationalized, the two brothers tve been engaged in coach and taxib operation, but they have now given taxicab work and reduced their ach activities.
Yardley Transport, Ltd., Spa Buildgs, Meanwood Road, Leeds, whose quisition of four more ex-B.R.S. hides was reported last week, are w operating their long-distance rvices \on a scale approaching their e-nationalization activities. Their .al of 14 vehicles from B.R.S. cornres with the 19 which were taken er.
They specialize in fruit transport, idly operating between the West Riding and London, Liverpool, Southampton and Hull. They have branch offices at Covent Garden, London and at Liverpool. Usually they carry miscellaneous traffic from the West Riding and return with fruit, but recently they distributed 15,000 trays of grapes from a ship at Hull to places _including London, Southampton, Cardiff and Glasgow.
Special A licences for a further eight vehicles (40i tons) have been granted by the Western Licensing Authority to Western Transport, Ltd., 75 Feeder Road, Bristol, 2, who now operate a large fleet of ex-B.R.S. lorries.
A. Miller (Haulage), Ltd., Crosby Road, London, S.E.1, have been granted special A licences for two vehicles (6 tons 6 cwt.) in the Western Area; Messrs. R. and W. Febry, Yale Iron Works, Chipping Sod bury, for one (3 tons 1 cwt.); and A. Burgoyne and Sons (Transport), Ltd., Union Road, Kingsbridge, one (3 tons 8 cwt.).
NATIONAL SAFETY CONGRESS
THIS year's National Safety Congress I
will be held in Central Hall, London, S.W.1, from November 2-4. For the first time there will be a congress dinner, to be held at the Savoy Hotel on November 2. Sir David Maxwell Fyfe, Home Secretary, and the Minister of Transport have both consented to attend the dinner and address delegates.
